Woman arrested for insurance fraud

Christina Soliz, 24, of Apple Valley, was arrested May 8, 2008 on suspicision of insurance fraud charges.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney says Soliz filed an auto insurance claim with Travelers Insurance Company and reported that her car had been stolen.

In a statement from the office prosecutors allege that Soliz told Travelers she found her vehicle a short time later, abandoned on a nearby set of railroad tracks, and that a train traveling through the area collided with the car while it was stuck on the tracks.

The Auto Insurance Fraud Unit conducted an investigation.  Investigators say that Soliz had been driving her vehicle when she had a solo accident that causing her vehicle to become stranded on a set of railroad tracks.  When she was unable to move the vehicle, a train collided with the car.

It is alleged the false story was given to Travelers Insurance because Soliz thought the collision would not
be covered by her insurance policy.

The District Attorney’s Office filed felony insurance charges on Soliz and an  arrest warrant was issued. Soliz was booked into custody at the Victorville Detention Center where her bail was set at $50,000.
