Firefighters quickly got a hand on a potentially problematic wildfire just west of Mead Valley on Monday afternoon and had it contained that evening.
The blaze, reported at Cajalco Road and Wood Road at 3:52 p.m., was stopped at 50 acres; it was declared contained at 9 p.m.
Authorities originally estimated that the fire had the potential to grow to 500-1,000 acres.
No injuries were reported; the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters will remain on the scene Tuesday.
