Perris man thrown from car, killed

A Perris man died early Saturday morning when he was thrown from his car in San Bernardino.

According to the San Bernardino County coroner’s office and San Bernardino Police,  20-year-old Edward Fernando Gonzalez was driving weeastbound on West Fifth Street when he lost control of his car. It left the road and Gonzalez, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected as it rolled.

Police say the car hit a fire hydrant, a fence and a street pole.

A carload of friends driving behind Gonzalez saw the accident; they had all been at a Rialto nightclub. Police suspect that alcohol and excessive speed contributed to the accident.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Det. Cardillo at (909) 384-5742.
