Marijuana grow; father and son are arrested

This Riverside news update has been provided by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

On Friday, April 25, 2008, at about 10:00 a.m., deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s station were assisting County Code Compliance officers with enforcement action in the 32000 block of Ethlene Drive, located in the unincorporated area known as Lakeland Village.

While conducting an inspection of one of the properties, several mature Marijuana plants were observed growing in the rear yard. Several attempts were made to contact the occupants with negative results. The scene was contained, pending a response by deputies assigned to the South-West County Narcotics Task Force (SWCNTF). Prior to the arrival of task force deputies, the occupants returned to the location and were subsequently detained pending further investigation.

At about 11:30 AM, South-West County Narcotics Task Force members arrived and processed the scene. As a result of this investigative action, deputies seized ten Marijuana plants and approximately one pound of Marijuana packaged for distribution. The occupants, Gary Swanson (Age 51) and son Zachary Swanson (Age 29) were subsequently arrested for Marijuana Cultivation and booked at the Southwest Detention Center.

If anyone has additional information regarding this incident, please contact the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s station at (951) 245-3300 or (800) 950-2444.
