The following information has been provided by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

On Saturday, May 03, 2008, at 4:26 a.m. officers from the Coachella Police Department responded to a man down call at Vista Del Sur east of Dillon, in the city of Coachella. Officers arrived within minutes and found a man at the scene.

During the investigation it was determined that the victim was parked on Vista Del Sur. A male Hispanic in his thirties approached the victim and produced a handgun. It appears that a struggle ensued and during the altercation the suspect shot the victim several times.

The suspect drove off in the victim’s truck and fled from the area. The victim was found by several citizens near the roadway and notified law enforcement. The victim was transported to a local hospital, and his injuries are considered non-life threatening.

At approximately 7:00a.m. the victim’s car was found by Officers from the Indio Police Department in the city of Indio. The vehicle had been set on fire.

Investigators from the Indio Sheriff’s Station responded to both scenes and assumed the investigation. The investigation is continuing.
