Local soldier dies in Iraq

ward.jpgA San Jacinto soldier has died in Iraq.

Pfc. Aaron Joseph Ward, 19, died May 6 in Al Anbar, according to the Department of Defense.

Ward was wounded when his unit came under small-arms fire.

He was assigned to the 170th Military Police Company, 504th Military Police Battalion, 42nd Military Police Brigade in Fort Lewis, Washington.

According to an obituary posted on the Miller-Jones Mortuary site, Ward attended San Jacinto High School and Mountain View High School.

A viewing is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Jones in Sun City.

Memorial services are planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller-Jones, followed by a 2 p.m. Army Honor Guard service at Riverside National Cemetery.
