The following information has been provided by the Riverside Police Department:

Riverside police are investigating a homicide in the 1700 block of Mathews Street, a block east of Interstate 215, in the north side of Riverside.

The victim, a 22-year-old male, had recently driven to and parked in the driveway of a residence. Witnesses reported hearing sounds of gunfire at about 4 p.m. Friday afternoon. The male victim was found at the end of the driveway; he sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was transported by ambulance to a Riverside hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 4:45 p.m. No further information is available at this time.
