The following information has been provided by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:
The Norco Office of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Riverside Community College Police Department and Norco Citizen’s Patrol conducted a Sobriety/Driver’s License Safety Checkpoint on April 26, 2008.
The Saturday checkpoint began at 8:00 p.m., ending on April 27, 2008, at 3:00 a.m. The checkpoint was located on Hamner Avenue and School Street, in the City of Norco.
A total of 1047 vehicles entered the checkpoint and a total of 669 drivers were screened. Twenty-nine drivers were given field sobriety tests, which resulted in ten drivers being arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and/or drugs.
A total of forty-nine drivers were issued citations. Additionally five subjects were arrested for outstanding misdemeanor warrants; one subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and one was arrested for motor vehicle theft and parole violation.
Thirty-three vehicles were stored during the operation which included twenty-nine for 30-day impound.
