Robert Arthur Padgett, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday October 23, 2009, with his loving family by his side. He was born on Wednesday, December 14, 1932 in Los Angeles, California to Arthur and Marie Padgett.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Robert met and married the love of his life, Laverne Crowe, on April 4, 1958, and they settled in Orange County, to begin their new life. Soon after, Robert and Laverne were blessed with two precious sons, Michael and Donald.
Robert was an investment advisor in the financial profession for 15 years. He enjoyed playing tennis and Pinochle, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Robert was an active Christian and a valued church leader at Anaheim First Church of the Nazarene, where he was a member for more than 50 years.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Laverne; son Michael Arthur Padgett and his wife Jodie of Fontana, California; son Donald Stuart Padgett of Hemet, California; granddaughter, Manda Rose Padgett of Santa Cruz, California; great-grandson Cohen Michael Shearer of Santa Cruz, California, and his sister, Janet Louise Einwalter of Buena Park, California.
The family would like to send a very special “Thank You” to Omar, Lurene, and the wonderful and caring staff of Hope Hospice for all they did to help the family and Robert through this time.
A Going Home Celebration Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 10:00am at Anaheim First Chruch of the Nazarene, 1340 North Candlewood St., Anaheim, CA 92805, officiated by Pastor Frank Morley. Robert will be laid to rest at a private service at Riverside National Cemetery at a later date.
Robert touched many lives and will be truly missed by all who were honored to know him and who loved him.
