Richard “Dick” Lee Messer on September 24, 2009 Dick left this world to be with his Harley in the sky. Born on April 9, 1943 in Kansas City, MO.
Dick was a loving son, husband, father, brother, and grandfather who contributed his good-natured, compassionate self to his friends and community.
Aside from lettering in football at his Alma Mater, Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Dick was also talented in many things such as woodworking, waterskiing and cars. Dick graduated with an engineering degree from Fullerton Junior College and then worked at Autonetics. From there he pursued a successful career in insurance sales.
His naturally social and positive personality led him to many achievements, such as the completion of three marathons with the Linda Loma Lopers, organizing toy rides and annual charity thanksgiving dinners. A smart and humble man, Dick always made you feel at home and loved.
Dick is survived by his mother Sarah, wife Jane, brother Philip, sister-in-law Sue, son Rick, daughters Denise (Fridge) and Dawn (Battles), and grandchildren Jacqueline, Megan, Jason and Olivia.
Services will be held Monday October 5, at 1:00 at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3520 E. Washington St., Colton.
