Raymond Chevraux February 21, 1923 ~ October 20, 2009

Raymond “Ray” Chevraux passed away on October 20th at the age of 86. He was born in Louisville, Ohio, and had been a resident of Sun City for the last 12 years.

Ray served his country in the Army/Air Corp during WWII as a Gunner on a B-17 Bomber. During his tour his plane was shot down over France but, with the assistance of the French Underground, he managed to escape over the Pyrenees Mountains into Spain.

Ray’s last days were spent surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father and Grandfather, and touched the lives of all he met with his strong presence, sweet disposition and witty sense of humor.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Julie; his children, Ray, Anita, David and Linda, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; his sister Dorothy McKim of Louisville, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 12:00 PM at Evans-Brown Sun City Chapel. Graveside Committal and Military Honors will follow at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray’s memory to Hospice of the Valley or any Veteran’s organization would be appreciated by the family.
