pasquale_tenneriello_1.jpg Pasquale Tenneriello, age 96, of Hemet, passed away on December 1, 2009 at Hemet Valley Medical Center from complications resulting from an auto accident in October 2009.He was born on December 23, 1912 in The Bronx, New York, to Nicola and Carmela Tenneriello of Naples, Italy.

Pasquale, who was referred to by friends and family as “Pat”, was a loving father, caring grandfather and trusted friend. He was called “Duffy” by his family in New York. He will be greatly missed by his family and all of the many friends who knew and loved him.

Pat served in the United States Army during WWII. He later was employed by the United States Navy Department as a refrigeration and air conditioning specialist until his retirement at age 62. Pat was also a barber all of his life and gave the first haircuts to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pat loved music and enjoyed playing the keyboard, banjo and guitar with his friends. He learned to play these instruments without lessons and became very talented.  Pat was an excellent dancer and enjoyed dancing at the Elks club where he was a member.  Pat loved science and always watched the Discovery Channel on television. He was a donut lover and met with his friends every morning at his favorite donut shop, Sam’s, in Hemet.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 30 years, Kate Tenneriello; siblings Raymond Tenneriello, Joseph Tenneriello, Lena Pagano, Ida Spano and  Amelia Pignataro; grandchild Rick Tenneriello and great grandchild, “Nick” Libutti.

Pat is survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Nora Tenneriello; children, son Nicholas Tenneriello and his wife Angela and daughter Carmela Eckley and her husband Jim; grandchildren, The Honorable Judge Michael Libutti and his wife Donna and Dion Libutti and his wife Teri; great grandchildren, Christine, Michael, Teressa, Dion, Francesca and Joey Libutti.

Pat is also survived by his sister Margaret DePalma of Staten Island, New York and his best friend and companion, Mona Ekstrom, of Hemet, and many nephews and nieces on the East Coast and the West Coast.

Viewing will be on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 4-8 pm with 6:00pm Rosary at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 West Florida in Hemet, California. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church 780 South State St in Hemet, California on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 10:00am, followed by a graveside service at Riverside National Cemetery.
