Two killed in Palm Desert toy-store shooting

The following information has been provided by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

The names of the deceased are Alejandro Moreno, 39, of Desert Hot Springs and Juan Meza, 28, of Cathedral City.

On Friday, November 28, 2008, at about 11:31 am, the Palm Desert Police Department received a call of shots fired at the Toys R Us store. The store is located at 72314 Highway 111 in the City of Palm Desert.

Officers arrived at the location at 11:32 am and entered the store and located two Hispanic male adults deceased from gunshot wounds. The information received was that the two deceased were involved in a confrontation inside of the store. No other individuals were hurt or injured.

The Palm Desert Police Department and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Central Homicide Unit responded to the location and assumed the investigation.
