The following information has been provided by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:
In May, the Moreno Valley Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Team began investigating the tagging crews known as “POE” (Psychos Overtaking Empires), “FSC” (Flip Side Crew), “WYC” (Wrecking Your City), “BSO” (Bombing Streets Often) and “KAW” (Killing All Walls).
These taggers use paint, markers or decals to deface and damage private and public property. The primary goal of the tagger, or the tagging crew, is name recognition.
During these investigations, fifteen 15 juvenile males have been arrested for felony vandalism and are believed to be the core members of these tagging crews. These individuals are responsible for over $200,000 in property damage.
The City of Moreno Valley has several programs in place to help eradicate graffiti, including a proactive, anti-graffiti program and on-going graffiti removal operations. To anonymously provide information, please call Officer Dan Engels at (951) 486-6923. With the community’s help, we can continue to make Moreno Valley a more beautiful place to live.
