Riverside photographer Michael J. Elderman is completing work on a book that chronicles the renovation of Riverside’s Fox Theater, scheduled to reopen in January as the Fox Performing Arts Center.

Elderman started documenting the transformation in 2005. The city allowed the public into the theater in May, 2007. The renovation has restored a once-crumbling landmark into a modern stage for the performing arts.

Elderman’s book will include more than 100 pictures that show the renovation process. With the project nearly complete, Elderman says he took at least 10,000 pictures. The book is titled ‘Riverside’s Fox Theater: an Intimate Portrait.’
