Mel attended Ramona High in the 1960s, then served in the Army for two years, stationed in South Korea, returning to the USA to work at Rohr Aircraft/Goodrich Aerospace, Riverside, and remained there for 35 years as a tool maker, retiring two years ago.
Throughout his life, Mel was an avid mechanic. He loved building and repairing hot rods. He loved his Corvette and Harley. Mel liked hiking up Mount Rubidoux, bike riding, visiting the local beaches, especially Corona del Mar and trips up to the local mountains, particularly Lake Arrowhead. Mel had a great enjoyment of life. He did not let leukemia get him down. He kept having fun until hours before his sudden decline.
