Man robbed at gunpoint near liquor store

A man was robbed by a group of men near a Riverside liquor store on Monday.

According to the Riverside Police Department, officers responded to the corner of Indiana Avenue and Racine Street at 7:19 p.m. Monday; the victim told police he was confronted by several men, one armed with a handgun, he’d just seen in a nearby liquor store. They took his cash and cell phone before fleeing in a vehicle.

In the meantime, the liquor store had called in a suspicious vehicle occupied by four men who appeared to be casing the store. The descriptions in the two incidents matched, and the liquor store was able to provide police with a license number. Riverside Sheriff’s Department officers located the vehicle, which was registered to an Eastvale address, and found two men who matched the descriptions of two of the robbery suspects.

The victim positively identified the pair and the car; the men were booked for robbery.
