Louise Kopatich

louiskopatich.jpg Louise Kopatich, a long-time resident of San Bernardino, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2009 in Fontana, CA at the age of 83. She died peacefully after a short illness.

Louise was a resident of San Bernardino for the past 59 years, moving with her husband and young sons from Virginia in 1950. She is survived by her sons, William Kopatich of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Fred Kopatich of Silver Spring, Maryland, brother William Morgan of Westminster, Massachusetts, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-granddaughters. Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John Kopatich, in 2001.

Louise was a devoted mother and wife who will be greatly missed by her family members. She courageously battled the effects of rheumatoid arthritis for many years, yet was able to live independently her entire life. She was known to friends and family as an accomplished artist, who graciously shared her oil paintings and watercolors. Over her final years, she was a resident of Leisure Pointe, where she made many new friends.

Louise was a long-time member of Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral. Over her adult life, she worked for the U.S. Census Bureau during the 1960 Census, the San Bernardino Public Library, and the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health. She was a member of the Emblem Club of San Bernardino Elks Lodge No. 836.

A public visitation will be held Thursday, November 5, 2009, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Avenue, San Bernardino. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 6, at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, 25th and Arrowhead Avenue. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you give a donation to The Arthritis Foundation to carry on its work to find a cure for rheumatoid arthritis.
