“This is big. I was scared to death.” That’s how Shawn Adams, of Riverside-based Ambiance Designs, describes being one of the featured designers in “Platinum Weddings,” which will be shown this summer on the WE Network.
Adams (pictured, right) was hired to handle the floral decorations for a massive Beverly Hills wedding. “There were at least 3,000 roses,” Adams said. His client, Nikoo Meanesh, learned of Adams after reading an article in “Ceremony Magazine.” No surprise; the publication devotes a large part of its coverage to weddings and related events.
Adams, 34, is no newcomer to the lucrative marriage industry. He’s been in the business of planning weddings, and decorations for weddings, since he was 24. Many of his local events are at Riverside’s Mission Inn.
“They wanted to one-up everybody,” Adams said of the TV event. “I realized the budget was unlimited; it’s added pressure.”
The wedding of Nikoo and Hossein Meanesh was a $250,000 shindig. The tab for the flowers was $40,000. “They just kept adding more and more,” said Adams.
By comparison, his largest-ever event at the Mission Inn had a floral bill of $20,000.
