Lake Elsinore DUI checkpoint results in arrests

The following information has been provided by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

The Lake Elsinore Police Department conducted a DUI/Driver’s License Safety Checkpoint at the intersection of Grand Ave. and Lakeshore.  This operation started at 7:00 p.m. and ended at 1:00 a.m.

During the operating hours, a total of 1152 vehicles passed through the check point.  217 vehicles were sent to the secondary screening area.  Of these vehicles, 144 citations were issued.  A total of 27 vehicles were impounded due to unlicensed drivers or persons driving with a suspended license, outstanding warrants and DUI.  A total of 6 arrests were made.  Three arrests were for DUI, and 3 were for outstanding warrants.

The Lake Elsinore Police Department stresses to all persons who elect to consume alcoholic beverages to do so responsibly and have a designated driver.

Special enforcement operations, to include checkpoints such as this will be conducted throughout year.
