Our Lady of Tepeyac church clergyman shot in robbery

On Tuesday, September 15, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Jurupa Valley Station was dispatched to the Our Lady of Tepeyac church, located at 15462 Magnolia in the unincorporated of the County of Riverside known as Home Gardens, in reference to a victim of a gunshot wound.

The deputies arrived on scene at approximately 9:53 pm and located a victim, Bishop Antonio Garduno. He was taken to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. He was listed in stable condition.

Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Jurupa Valley Station arrived and processed the crime scene.

The initial details of this incident are that Garduno heard a disturbance in the courtyard to the church and he was confronted by four male juveniles. It appears that robbery may have been the motive and Garduno was shot during this incident. The four suspects fled the area in a dark-colored vehicle.
