Helen Elizabeth Hanson passed away at Corona, CA home, Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Portsmith, New Hampshire, January 5, 1921 to Michael and Mary (Brooks) Donnelly.

Most of her younger years were spent in Maine and Massachusetts. She met Darwin Hanson from North Dakota, she married him and they made their home in North Dakota for five years. Two sons were born while there. The youngest, “Bobby”, was born on her 30th birthday.

The family moved to California in 1953, but a few years later they moved to Taiwan because Darwin was an importer/exporter. After three years they returned to Corona, CA where Darwin’s company headquarters was located. With no work experience, Helen enrolled in the Riverside National Business Institute and graduated in 1979.

She was hired by the Corona Public Library in February 1980. She became a Library Aide in February 1980, a Library Clerk in July 1982 and a Library Technical Assistant in August 1998. Helen considered herself very blessed with most of her years, because of the Lord, her friends and the Golden Rule.

Helen was preceded in death by her precious son, Darwin R. “Buddy” Hanson, Jr. August 15, 2002 and her beloved husband, Darwin Hansen, whom she missed so deeply since his passing in 1970.

Loving mother of Dustin, Robert “Bob” Hanson and his wife Candy of Corona, CA. Devoted grandmother of Christina and Jason Stinson, Catlin and Martin Jaimez and Michelle Lether. Great-grandmother of Micheala Stinson, Kaydance Stinson, Destany Jaimez.

Also survived by her dear friend, Donna Jones.

Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation, Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral Service will be conducted at 12:00 noon in Grimes-Akes Family’s “Grace Chapel”. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements Entrusted To The Care Of 500 W.
