Congressman Ken Calvert was among the Republicans and some Democrats who voted against H.R. 3962. The bill to revamp the United States health care system has been the subject of intense debate. For many politicians facing election campaigns it’s highly political.
In November the California Secretary of State reported a runoff election for Republican Congressman Ken Calvert.
During the primary Calvert’s challenger, Bill Hedrick, received 48.3%, or 116,931 votes. Republican Ken Calvert had 51.7%, or 125,269 votes. The district includes Riverside and Orange Counties.
The annual salary of a congressional representative is $174,000.
