Full control declared on Triangle/Freeway Complex Fire

Full control of the Triangle/Freeway Complex Fire was declared at 8 a.m. Tuesday — a full 10 days after the fire began in Corona.

But over the past few days, residents in the fire’s path have been far less worried about fire than the rain predicted for Tuesday night and Wednesday. With a significant amount of rain, burned hillsides of Chino Hills State Park are likely to turn to mud, jepoardizing homes that managed to escape the flames.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the fire burned approximately 30,305 acres before this morning’s declaration. While the fire originated in Riverside County, the bulk of the burned area is along the Orange/San Bernardino county line; the blaze also reached into part of Los Angeles County.

Including multi-family dwellings, 190 residential structures were destroyed and another 123 damaged.

A total of 14 firefighters suffered minor injuries.
