Redlands news headline from the Redlands Police Department:
Firefighters from Redlands and Yucaipa responded to a traffic collision and extricated an injured driver on the eastbound Interstate 10 near the Yucaipa Boulevard off-ramp shortly before 10:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7.
The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old male, was trapped in an SUV after he struck the freeway center divider just west of the Yucaipa Boulevard off-ramp. The steering wheel and dashboard pinned the driver’s legs and he sustained major injuries to both his legs and his face.
Paramedics ventilated the patient to help him breathe during the 30 minutes it took firefighters to extricate him from the vehicle. The patient was awake and responsive during the extrication. He was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center for further treatment. His condition is unknown.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
