The Fox Performing Arts Center is one of Riverside’s most revered landmarks. Opened in 1929 as a cinema/vaudeville theater house, it attracted well-known performers including Bing Crosby and Judy Garland, while it also became popular for motion-picture previews.

The theater may be best known as the site of the first-ever public screening of “Gone with the Wind.” In 2007, the city began a major historical restoration of the Fox with the goal of reinventing it as a state-of-the-art performing arts center for Riverside and the Inland Empire.
