At 9:21 p.m. Thursday, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 4333 Rubidoux Ave. The first arriving unit observed smoke and fire issuing from a two-story residential structure.
At the time of arrival it was unknown if there were people in the residence. Responding units also dealt with downed power lines, multiple vehicles in the front yard and access difficulties due to the structure being located approximately 200ā from the street.
The structure was approximately 80 years old, of balloon type construction. A second alarm was requested due to amount of fire showing and age and condition of structure. A primary and secondary search was conducted. No occupants were discovered.
The fire was brought under control within 47 minutes. The fire consumed the majority of the first and second floors. Later it was determined the occupants were not at home at the time of the incident.
The residence was occupied by three adult males. The occupants were displaced by the fire and Red Cross provided assistance.
Approximate damage to structure and contents is estimated to be $250,000 structure and $100,000 contents.
