The street in front of Riverside’s Mission Inn was elbow-to-elbow Friday evening when the hotel’s massive light display was switched on in what has become a local holiday tradition.

As if the miles of lights, giant nutcrackers and animatronic carolers weren’t enough, the sky above sparkled with an impressive fireworks display.

As the smoke cleared after the fireworks, much of the crowd walked down Main Street to the free Festival of Trees at the Riverside Convention Center, which ran through Sunday.

There was also hot chocoate, funnel cakes, live music, kettle corn, ice skating and a chance to visit with Santa as people milled along the pedestrian mall.
