Anyone who may still think the internet is a passing fad, consider this. Youtube.com reports that a 1-minute video, which shows babies dancing on roller skates, was viewed online more than 45 million times so far this year. The clip is 1-minute, and was generated by computer animation.

It clearly demonstrated the power to blend entertainment with a commercial message. Much of the skating stunts include shots with bottles of Evian water.

If you do the math, given the length of the video, and the number of views– that’s 750,000 hours time spent watching video on a computer.

Companies are taking notice of the power of the internet. Bob Lutz, Vice-Chairman at General Motors described the video as “arresting.” Apparently he was right, people couldn’t take their eyes off it.

One thing is for sure, we’ll see more internet video in 2010. And if ever there was a time for companies to blend creativity and entertainment with a commercial message it is now, and it will happen online.
