The California Highway Patrol says it will be five months before it releases its report on the crash that killed Christopher Laurie. “When the M.A.I.T. team gets involved they’re very meticulous,” said officer Mario Lopez of the Inland Division Office of the CHP.

Laurie was killed July 24 when he slammed into the back of a Caltrans truck on eastbound Highway 91 in Corona. Laurie was traveling alone in his Dodge Magnum in the carpool lane.

The Riverside County coroner’s office has released the results of an autopsy. Lt. Cynthia Mayman said toxicology reports did not reveal the presence of alcohol or illicit drugs. “The cause of death is listed as cranio-cerbral trauma — blunt-impact head injuries,” said Mayman.

The CHP’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team routinely handles such investigations. Its findings on what caused the crash are now expected sometime in December.
