It’s that time of year when we let our hair down a bit. During 2009 InstantRiverside.com produced hundreds of video-news reports. What you see on the internet is usually flawless; at least we hope so. Behind the scenes it’s another story. Like many news organizations, there’s a level of organized chaos.
As video becomes popular on InstantRiverside.com, and it is, the more bloopers or “oops” video we seem to have. This has been a fun year because our small team has enjoyed its largest audience ever. Fortunately our chief editor has a sense of humor. Recently he revealed that he’s been saving all of our “oops” moments. We thought nobody would ever see this. We were wrong.
Speaking for myself, I was surprised to see how much difficulty I have speaking– and not just occasionally. You’ll also see several minutes of other unexpected moments. Fortunately we were able to include one of my favorite interviews when Thelma Houston sang with me during a news report. It was absolutely unplanned.
If anything, it’s my hope that Riversiders will realize that the team here is having fun.
To everyone who has bookmarked our home page, and visits InstantRiverside.com regularly, thank you. I can assure you that it’s an enormous compliment knowing that we have earned your trust. Nothing is more valuable to a locally owned and operated news company.
The world is changing and with each day we can do things to improve our town– even if it’s just a simple smile or a greeting to a stranger. These gestures help us build a sense of community; a place we proudly call home.
Without trying to sound too sappy, make it a fantastic holiday. And, as we look toward 2010, remember to be remarkable.
