Where to throw away electronic trash; old computers, cell phones, TV’s

Electronic waste news headline from Altura Credit Union:

Altura Credit Union is hosting a free electronic waste recycling event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, and Sunday, February 7, at its headquarters, 2847 Campus Parkway, Riverside.  All proceeds from the event will benefit the Moreno Valley High School PTSA.computers11.jpg

The E-Waste that can be recycled at this event includes most consumer electronic equipment that has reached its ‘end-of-life’ or ‘end-of-usage,’ whether in full or non-working condition.

Electronic waste includes the following items:

electric appliances with a cord or circuit board,  computer monitors, television sets, PC systems, printers, laptops, copiers, scanners, fax machines, toner cartridges, power supplies, main frame units, networking equipment, mother board systems, VCR/VCD/DVD players, home entertainment systems, landline and cellular phones, & small portable devices. Car and forklift batteries also will be accepted.

The following items can’t be included; refrigerators, washers, dryers, fluorescent light bulbs and household batteries.

There is a $5 service fee for Microwave Ovens.

The Moreno Valley High School PTA is working with a company, Greenview Resource Management, that uses an EPA-permitted facility and process to divert electronic waste from landfills by performing material recovery and recycling.
