Eugene "Gene" Leroy Murphy
Eugene “Gene” Leroy Murphy age 85, longtime Norco resident, Entered Eternal Rest early Friday morning following recent second stroke.
He suffered his first stroke in 2008, and often could be seen walking down Corydon St. in Norco with his tall walking stick. Gene was born in Helena, Montana, the beloved son of Cicely Murphy, and was raised by his Uncle Roy and Aunt Clara Alexander in Jordan, Montana.
He proudly served his country while in the United States Air Force between WWII and Korea, stationed much of that time in Alaska. He was a graduate of the University of Washington where he taught dancing and flying, was captain of the gymnastics team, and he met the mother of his children, Nancy Ange.
For more than half a century, Gene would devote himself as a career salesman; for a long while in the pharmaceutical industry and later in real estate with Keller Williams and ReMax All Stars.
He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him; his loving wife Janet Griffith, daughter Anita (and husband David) Northcraft of Newport Beach, son Carl (and wife Susan) Murphy of Wiesbaden, Germany and son John ( and wife Jerri) Griffith of Cherry Hill, NJ, 4 grandchildren, 2 cousins and many dear friends, especially those in his neighborhood and at the Corona Stroke Club.
He loved to travel, fly his airplane and did lapidary jewelery for a hobby. He wanted his friends to know: “HE DID IT ALL” would be written on his grave.
Beloved husband to Janet, loving father, grandfather and cousin.
Services on Mon, 6/4, begin at 11am in East Hills Community Church, Riverside with Full Military Honors following at Riverside National. Cemetery. Arrangements by Walker Family Funeral Home, Corona, CA (951) 898-0452.
