Loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, Edith passed away peacefully on January 6, 2012 at Vista Cove Skilled Nursing Facility in San Gabriel, California. Born in a rural area outside Kearney, Nebraska, Edith grew up on a farm with her parents and nine brothers and sisters.

She married the love of her life, Wilfred, in 1939 following graduation from high school and some college cut short by a lack of funds. Edith and Wilfred hated the cold winters of central Nebraska and vowed to move when the war was over.

In 1946 the family, now including two young sons, moved to California… first living in Long Beach and then soon moving to Banning where they ran a small motel for 10 years. She enjoyed traveling, playing golf and bridge.

She was an active member in the KG Chapter of PEO in Banning. Following Wilfred’s death in 2001 she continued to live in Banning until 2006 when she moved to the California P.E.O. retirement home in Alhambra.

She is survived by two Nebraska sisters, her two sons, A.J. and George, their respective spouses Sylvia and Sandy, as well as three grandchildren: Natasha Lane (Charlie), Pierce of Riverside and Reed (Angela) of Irvine as well as two great granddaughters.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Wiefels & Son Memorial Chapel, Banning. She will be inurned privately beside Wilfred, her beloved husband of 63 years.
