Two arrested in Lake Elsinore ID theft investigation

News headline from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department:

On May 11, 2016, a vehicle was reported stolen with the victim’s wallet inside. The vehicle was recovered later that day after it had been abandoned by the suspect, but the wallet was no longer inside. The victim was later notified by his bank that a female was using his credit card, which had been inside the wallet, at a local retail store within the city of Lake Elsinore.

Officers assigned to the Theft Suppression Team of the Lake Elsinore Police Department assumed the investigation and quickly identified the female suspect as 30 year-old Dominique Ramirez of Lake Elsinore.

Through their investigative efforts, the officers also discovered Ramirez was regularly assuming the identities of the rightful owners of multiple stolen credit cards, purchasing merchandise with the cards, and selling the merchandise for cash.

Ramirez was located as she was attempting to sell one of the items, and placed her under arrest for identity theft.

A male who was with Ramirez at the time, 26 year-old Anthony Luker of Corona, was discovered to have an outstanding Felony warrant for Grand Theft and was also arrested. Both suspects were transported to the Southwest Detention Center and booked for their respective charges.

This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information can contact Officer Parrish at (951) 245-3300.
