Riverside teenager dies in crash at Riverwalk Parkway

On Monday, February 3, 2014 at about 11:21 a.m., members of the Riverside Police and Fire Departments responded to reports of a collision involving a single vehicle on Riverwalk Parkway at Raley Drive.

A black 1996 Honda Civic had been traveling southbound on Riverwalk Parkway at a high rate of speed, then lost control and collided into a city light standard.

Two people were trapped inside the vehicle. The driver has been identified as Angel Gonzales, 20, of Riverside, according to the Riverside County Coroner.   Gonzales died at the scene.

The 30-year-old male passenger was eventually pulled from the vehicle and transported to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment.

Members of the department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to investigate the collision.

Public Utilities responded to safely repair the city light standard.
