With Cabazon’s Wheel Inn closed, what will become of dinosaurs?

The closure of the Wheel Inn diner in Cabazon has raised questions about the fate of the roadside restaurant’s giant dinosaurs.

Dinny and Mr. Rex — who have been featured in a number of commercials, videos and films — have been a favorite attraction along Interstate 10 since the 1960s. They were created by Wheel Inn owner Claude Bell, who worked on attractions at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park.

The dinosaurs’ official web page declares that not only are they “here to stay,” but that there is interest in reopening the Wheel Inn.
