Explosion levels Riverside home

An explosion flattened a Riverside home on Friday morning and left several surrounding homes damaged.

The house, on Cochise Drive near Ivanpah Place, was reportedly vacant and had been undergoing construction when the blast happened shortly after 4 a.m. Friday.

The explosion was so extreme that authorities initially thought the home might have been hit by a plane. Two neighboring homes suffered extensive damage.

No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
