Police raid local internet cafe connected to gambling; 15 suspects

News headline from the Riverside Police Department:

In response to numerous complaints from people and business establishments, police initiated an investigation into illegal gambling at the Happy Land Internet Café, located in the 10900 block of Magnolia Avenue.

Detectives with the Vice Unit, assisted by the Department of Justice Bureau of Gambling Control conducted the investigation over a two month period.

The investigation continued Friday with the service of search warrants at the location as well as at a residence connected to the establishment located in the city of Rancho Cucamonga.

As a result of the investigation and search of the locations, 15 persons have been identified and/or arrested for charges of illegal gambling.

In addition, the investigation resulted in the seizure of thirty gaming computers used to conduct the illegal gambling operation.

During the course of the investigation, investigators also arrested other persons who frequented the establishment for prostitution and possession of narcotics. An undisclosed amount of U.S. currency was recovered from the business.
