Hundreds evacuated, three injured as Silver Fire grows near Banning

Hundreds of residents have been forced to evacuate as the Silver Fire near Banning grew to an estimated 6,000 acres as of 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

According to KABC TV, at least 10 structures have been seen burning.

Cal Fire and the Riverside County Fire Department have issued mandatory evacuations for the communities of Poppet Flats, Twin Pines and Silent Valley, and Highway 243 is now closed.

The blaze was first reported at 2 p.m. Wednesday near Highway 243 and Poppet Flats Road. The cause is under investigation.

Three injuries have been reported, two to firefighters and a third to a civilian, according to Cal Fire.
