Rams, Chargers star Deacon Jones dies at 74

NFL Hall of Famer David “Deacon” Jones died in his Southern California home on Monday at 74. Jones, a member of the then-Los Angeles Rams’ Fearsome Foursome from 1961-71, went on to play two seasons for the San Diego Chargers and a final year with the Washington Redskins. The defensive end is credited with first using the word “sack” to describe what he did to opposing quarterbacks.
