It’s been named the Hathaway Fire and it’s burned over 200 acres in Riverside County.
It was first reported at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday in the area of Hathaway Canyon Road and Morongo Road.
It is currently on Morongo Reservation territory.
There is no threat to buildings, according to Riverside County Fire. Late Sunday, the event was moved to the control of the U.S. Forest Service.
It is near boundary of the Morongo Indian Reservation and San Gorgonio Wilderness. It is approximately 1300 acres in size with 5% containment. No structures are currently threatened but there is a lot of smoke drifting up towards the Big Bear area.
Thick smoke has also shrouded much of the air in Palm Springs.
