Angelina Jolie undergoes cancer-preventative double mastectomy

In an article written for The New York Times, actress Angelina Jolie revealed she’d had a double mastectomy earlier this year because tests indicated she had an 87 percent chance of developing breast cancer. Jolie, 37, is said to be planning more preventative surgery — her chances of developing ovarian cancer, the disease that killed her mother, are reportedly 50-50.

Jolie and Brad Pitt have three biological children and three adopted children.

Jolie was nominated for an Academy Award for “Changeling,” which was based on the sensational 1920s Wineville Chicken Coop Murders in what was later renamed Mira Loma.
