Crash on Adams Avenue in Riverside killed motorcycle rider

On Sunday, February 24, 2013, at about 8:29 p.m., members of the Riverside Police and Fire Departments responded to reports of a collision involving a 1989 Mazda B2200 pickup that struck a lone rider operating a 2004 Honda
motorcycle.

The truck was backing up from the west side of Adams to the northbound lanes when it struck the motorcycle that was also traveling northbound on Adams.

After the collision occurred, the driver of the truck fled in his vehicle away from the scene.

Witnesses took officers to the truck’s location and the driver was apprehended nearly two miles away. Gabriel Andres Brennan of Fullerton was identified, arrested and booked into Robert Presley Detention Center on the charge of Felony Hit and Run (20001 VC).

The motorcyclist sustained a major injury and was transported Riverside Community Hospital.  After lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released, pending the Coroner’s investigation.
