Tsunami sirens started ringing across Hawaii following a large earthquake off Canada’s west coast on Saturday.
As of midnight waves were projected to begin hitting the Hawaii coast by 1:00 a.m. California time.
The waves are expected to be as high as 5 feet. The earthquake was 7.7-magnitude according to the USGS.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center warning has prompted several people to flee the coastal regions, and people who live in tall building have been urged to remain on the upper floors.
The tsunami waves could hit Hawaii for several hours or days.
