Young girl on scooter critically injured after running into a truck in Moreno Valley

2012-09-22-map-mo-val.JPGAt around 5:00 p.m. on September 21st, officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to a major injury traffic collision involving a child on Climbing Rose Drive at Scarlet Sage Way, in a Moreno Valley neighborhood north of the 60 freeway.

The initial investigation determined that a 7-year-old girl riding a Razor type scooter without a helmet was southbound on Scarlet Sage Way when she entered the intersection, and hit the side of a pickup truck that was westbound on Climbing Rose Drive.

Moreno Valley Fire Department and AMR Paramedics responded and treated the girl, who had suffered major head trauma.  She was taken to the Riverside County Regional Medical Center in critical condition.  The driver and passenger in the pickup truck were uninjured.

Members of the Moreno Valley Police Department’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team responded and completed the investigation of the collision.  The intersection remained closed for several hours until the investigation was complete.
