Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on September 21st, officers from the Menifee Police Department responded to a call of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Domenigoni Parkway and Laguna Vista Drive, near Newport Road, in Menifee. The pedestrian was unresponsive at the time of the call.
The collision involved a 17-year-old boy walking east in the westbound number two lane of Domenigoni Parkway for an unknown reason. A driver, identified only as a 30-year-old Menifee resident, was driving west on Domenigoni Parkway in the number two lane. When the driver saw the pedestrian, he swerved and tried to avoid a collision, but his car hit the pedestrian causing serious injuries.
The pedestrian, who has been identified as Steven Nunez of Corona, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased from his injuries a short time later.
All westbound lanes of Domenigoni Parkway were closed until 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
The investigation is continuing and anyone that may have witnessed the collision or may have further information is asked to call Officer Joshua Cail of the Menifee Police Department at 951-210-1000.
