Riverside man arrested after stabbing in spousal abuse incident

News headline from the Riverside Police Department:

At around 9:30 p.m. on September 21st, the Riverside Police Department Communications Center received a 911 call for a woman that had just been stabbed at an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Iowa Avenue, near Spruce Street.  Patrol officers arrived and located the woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The Riverside Fire Department and American Medical Response responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where she was treated for her wounds and is currently in stable condition.

Patrol officers determined where the suspect lived and detained him without incident.

Based on preliminary investigation, it is believed that the victim was backing her vehicle out of a garage when the suspect approached and forcefully removed her from the vehicle.  The suspect then began stabbing the victim numerous times.  The suspect then got into a vehicle and before leaving, hit her with his vehicle.

The suspect, identified as Arthur Wayne McNeil, 31, of Riverside, was interviewed by Homicide Investigators and later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and spousal abuse.
