News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:
At around 5:00 p.m. on September 3rd, deputies from the Perris Station responded to a suspicious vehicle call for service in the unincorporated area of Riverside County known as Lake Matthews.
When deputies arrived, they found a vehicle that appeared to have left the roadway near Gavilan Springs Ranch Road and Lake Matthews Drive and crashed into a tree. Deputies searched the area attempting to locate the driver of the vehicle, but no one was found. As they were preparing to tow the vehicle as abandoned, a deceased male was located in the trunk.
Investigators from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department Perris Station and Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
The identification of victim is being withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.
This is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
