News headline from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:
At around 11:00 p.m. on September 24th, deputies from Jurupa Valley responded to the Swift Transportation warehouses located in the 11000 block of Mission Boulevard in Jurupa Valley, after a report of a subject attempting to run down employees with his vehicle.
Prior to deputies’ arrival, employees had subdued the suspect as he was attempting to flee. The investigation revealed the suspect had unlawfully entered the facility and drove his vehicle up a loading dock and into a large warehouse where employees were working.
The suspect started driving erratically at high rates of speed inside the warehouse and purposely crashed into several pallets containing products. The suspect also drove his vehicle directly at employees as they were attempting to get out of the building.
Several thousands of dollars in products were damaged and one employee had a minor injury. Several witnesses and victims identified the suspect as an ex-employee of the company who had worked in that distribution center.
The man, who was identified as Scott Painter, 36, of Jurupa Valley, was arrested for attempted murder and several counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Painter was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Deputy P. Walls at 951-955-2600.
